Today i was messing around with the Prezi and Wix format to see which one i am going to do my finally project on. I have pretty much all my information but the only thing i need to find is an article that i can counter or something that show where my ideas are coming from
Social Networking Sites is the topic i picked and the main points i am going to focus on are:
-brief history of how the modern day social networking site came to be
-privacy on theses site
-connections formed on these sites
-i dont know what my 4th point will be yet
I really do not feel i have had success in any area because i have really written a lot on my term paper
I have a general outline of my paper that helped put my thoughts on paper but i still need to organize it better so it makes easy for me to write my thoughts into my term paper. After this hopefully the structure of my paper will flow and be easily understandable.
I would focus on actually writing more on my term paper because the last one i could narrow down my ideas quick enough to write them down
Are social networking sites good or bad in society right now
I have some what of an idea of what i want to do my term paper on but i have not find the direction i want to take on it and what topic its gonna go with that we have done in class. I need to do more research so i can narrow it down. I will spend most of my time tomorrow on doing this assignment and if i have any question will email my teacher.
In the article “Information overload, the early years” by Ann Blair talks about how differently overload for people in the early age to the modern age. Early year overload was caused by the invention of the printing press and was resolved by taking notes, then came the printer and that too was solved by note taking. But the serious problem came when the internet can because just about anyone can put something online for people to read and whether its reliable or true.
What i found most interesting in the article is when she said, “Most Internet searches will turn up vastly more results than can be used” and elaborates on it by saying that there is not enough good information on there and a lot of unnecessary information but i feel she did not say how there are sites and companies that are get paid to filter out the good and bad information. These companies and sites have a fee and sometimes are free for people who would like to use this reliable information.
I stand in between Wales and Carr debate. I agree with Wales when he says the internet is making us shallow which is not a bad thing because we now know many things but very briefly about them. This is good because summaries things very shortly and keep things short and to the point. I also agree with Carr because he states how the shallow in the internet is bad. This is true to me because with only getting the short version of things, it does not really give much to description or meaning to things so we might slowly start losing that aspect.
I actually like a few topic we have discussed like Charles Cooley’s “A Looking Glass Self”, David Perry’s “Are Games Better Than Life”, and Mike Wesch’s “An Anthropological Introduction to YouTube”.
I liked Cooley article because he showed how we want to be seen by other is not the way we act but instead we act like how other people see us. Some question that arose when i read the article is that does this method true or are there factors that affect it. This would be an interest topic to do because i could either agree to it or find article that go against it.
I liked Perry because he had a great video on how gaming has involved over the past few years and how it is some what true how games and real life are merging in some how. Some question that arose is where are video games gonna go once they reach there limits or is there even limits for video games. This is another interesting topic because i would like to see how real the statement mite be.
I liked Wesch video because I did not think youtube had so many benefits and so many things you cold do with it. Some questions that arose is that the military weapons do look like video games now that i realized it. This is also an interesting topic because i could use myself as an experiment and do thing on youtube that i did not know of could be done because i do not use youtube that much, only for looking at videos and see where that lead me to.

In general interacting, uploading, downloading, or existing in the internet makes me feel empowered because i can speak my mind or talk about something and I am not only reaching people locally but have a worldwide range of people that may agree, disagree, or have a different perspective than i have which is a great thing. BUT at the same time i feel vulnerable because employers can now look at social networking site and other things to look at there future employee and make a judgement call off of what they see or people may put things without u knowing that may be embarrassing, not appropriate, or uncalled for on the internet.

When looking if i left a Digital Footprint on the internet, i found out that my name is pretty common because i found other peoples Facebook. I got tired of looking for my own Facebook after the third page but i sure i would of eventually found it. Also when putting my name with some of the nicknames people call me i forgot that one of my girlfriends made me a Myspace and i saw how my friends made up a random Facebook for me and put a bunch of random things on it.
I would not change my Narrative Capital that much. I would probably not have put certain post on Facebook and not accepted some tags from friends but there is not many of them. I am trying to appeal to no one but be only who i am and not no one else.
Chico State’s Movimiento Estudiantil Chican@ de Aztlan (MECh@) is having a retreat on February 12 from 9 am to 6 pm in the Cross Cultural Leadership Center (CCLC). This retreat is not just only for members of MECh@ but a chance for people who would like to join or are interested in the group and would like to know more about what the organization is about. There is no fees to come to the event just a chance to learn new things.
I have a Twitter and a Facebook as social networking account. I have not had either of these two networking site for that long. I got my Facebook this past summer and i got my twitter the first month i was in school. The process I go through when accepting or adding a friend request on FB or follower on Twitter is that I pretty much accept anyone who want to be my friend or follower on my accounts. I usually look for people I know from school or that i remember and have not seen in a while or talk to. I attempt to portray myself exactly on who I am, i do not try to make another identity for myself on the Internet, I try to stay true to who I am and nothing else.
Well now that you mention it and bring up that topic i probably do have water down version of myself because some how with the different kind of groups of friend and this doe not include family. I would say the first version would be with my family because everyone seem to think i am very smart because I am the first to go to college when in reality i think i am an average student. The second version on me would be with my friends back at home, this version was more quiet and less active in social life because back at home there really was not much to do unless you had a car or some money and i did not have a car or that much money to be spending so i really did not go out that often as i could of. My third version would be the one i have in Chico because since there is no one to tell me what to do and everything is in walking distance or biking, I can pretty much go out with friends some where or go visit them at their place or the other way around. I would not say this is a fresh new start for me since i am so far away from home but a learning experience that will teach me many new and fascinating things and ideas
